Simon Beh

Simon Beh has more than 26 years of working and entrepreneurial experience with both the private and public sectors, of which more than ten are direct hands-on experience in business development, engineering, industrial/commercial/consumer sales and marketing, trade and investment development at both national and state or provincial government levels. He held several appointments with some foreign MNCs, local listed and private companies and government agency in various purchasing, research, regional sales and marketing and management functions.
From 1996 to 2004, he was the State of Mississippi 's Asia Pacific Representative/Managing Director for 8 years. He is responsible for advising and assisting Mississippi companies to do business development, sourcing, research and setup their operations in Asia , including ASEAN, Australia , New Zealand , India and China . Each year, he organised and participated in about 17 trade events/missions, besides other promotional and networking activities. He has organised numerous trade and mission activities across the Asia Pacific region not only for his own representative state but also for several other US States such as Illinois, Florida, Oregon, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, New Hampshire, Louisiana and Georgia.
He is also the CEO of World BUSINESS Association, a business networking organisation which organised regular business events – conferences, breakfast meetings, missions and business networking events.
With a mechanical engineering and marketing background, he helped a number of Italian companies set up operations in Singapore when he was with the Italian Trade Commission . Subsequently, the Europe 's largest industrial belting manufacturer appointed him to set up their first Asia Pacific regional sales office in Singapore and he was its Managing Director for two years before venturing out on his own. Following that he started a plastic packaging manufacturing and trading business with a family member and an event management company. The events are mostly technology related conferences. Some of the events are the XMLAsia ( Asia 's largest XML-centric conference), Infocomm21 Leadership Conference, Industry Forums, with clients such as IBM, HP, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems, Infocomms Development Authority of Singapore (government agency that governs the telecommunication industry in Singapore ) and Ministry of Finance.
He was the pioneering ASEAN Trade Director, South East Asia for the Industrial Development Board of Northern Ireland (IDB), a provincial UK government trade and investment promotion agency. He has led several Northern Ireland trade missions to several ASEAN countries.
Since early 2003, Simon started the US Technology Center Pte Ltd, a privately-held business and technology incubator in Singapore to bring US technology and other niche market companies to use Singapore as their spring-board hub into Asia markets in view of the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement coming into force from January 2004. The Center has secured the strategic support of the Singapore Economic Development Board, 9 US States economic agencies (Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Oregon, Illinois and Arizona) and 2 US counties (Broward County and Miami-Dade from Florida) partnering the Center to reach out to their companies within their respective states and counties. The USTech Center is also a member of the Locally-Based Enterprise Advancement Programme (LEAP) administered by Economic Development Board of Singapore to spur the formation and development of enterprises and economic activities in Singapore.
Simon also played active roles in several trade associations in Singapore such as American Chamber of Commerce, Singapore Manufacturers' Federation, Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) and participating members in Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and International Chamber of Commerce in Singapore . He was the former President of the American States & Ports Association (ASPA) in Singapore and was the former Executive Director of the Association of the Telecommunication Industries of Singapore (ATIS).
He was also the Judging Committee Chairman of the Netrepreneur of the Year Awards 2001 (one of Singapore 's leading IT industry awards). He was the organizing Chairman, of the Networking Nite for Global Entrepolis 2004 ( Singapore largest entrepreneur conference week) where more than 2000 local and international CEOs attended.
He is also well connected and established a network of government officials and entrepreneurs across Asia . He maintained a solid database of contacts of some hundreds of thousands.
